The first use of Marcasites can be traced back to the Incas where they used them in jewelry and ceremonies to try and predict the future. Native American Indians were also fond of this lovely gem believing they were a mirror into the soul. Their popularity grew in 17th Century France when Louis XIV decreed only he should wear Diamonds, and of course they were used to spectacular effect in Art Nouveau and in particular Art Deco jewelry. Our gorgeous collection draws heavily on pieces from this decadent 1930s period. As befitting of such special pieces we have used only the finest 925 sterling silver for the mounts, liberally set with sparkling marcasites and over 10 carats of our flawless pear cut brandy colored Diamondeau® - flawless simulated diamond.
